Fifth Annual ALA Symposium – Self-Expressions in a Cross-Cultural Digital World
Call for Presentations – Fifth Annual ALA Symposium – 2019
Critical Self-Expression in an Interconnected World
Location: Moataz Al Alfi Hall
Across our disciplinary practices in the Academy of Liberal Arts (ALA) exists a collective identity that is committed to fostering instruction that facilitates how students obtain, organize, retrieve, construct, and apply knowledge. This commitment fits well within The American University in Cairo’s mission to advance student-centered educational praxes that utilize a variety of active pedagogical approaches.
Accordingly, the 2019 ALA symposium seeks proposals that will showcase, at a deeper level, how we are implementing, researching, and engaging with a variety of academic methods such as critical and objective thinking, reading, textual analysis, and problem-solving. We also seek proposals that can highlight evidentiary ways in which our students are acquiring emotional intelligence, commitments to social engagement, critical listening, meta-cognitive recognition, and teamwork.
We welcome proposals for oral and poster presentations that address the symposium’s theme – Critical Self-Expression in an Interconnected World.
