Program Requirements

The OCI-AUC scholarship program will ensure that the selection of students is transparent and consistent with the program's objectives and AUC's selection criteria. A rigorous selection process will be carried out to evaluate each applicant's academic abilities and involvement in extracurricular and/or community service activities. Final selection will be based on placement exam scores, proof of activities and the outcome of individual interviews. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Egyptian citizen
  • Public/private high school graduates from Upper Egypt schools (Assiut, Beni Suef, Minya, Sohag, Fayyoum, Qena, Luxor and Aswan)
  • Demonstrated financial inability to study at AUC
  • Active engagement in school activities or in the local community
  • An interest in majoring in economics
  • A score of not less than 90 percent in thanawiya amma (2013 - 2014 or 2014 - 2015) or its equivalent in other certificates
  • Adequate English language skills as demonstrated by IELTS/iBT exam
  • Orientation/commitment to public service
  • Potential for further leadership development

  • A copy of the applicant's birth certificate 
  • A letter from the school's administration identifying the type of school (i.e., governmental, private or experimental) and its location
  • Official copy of third preparatory, first secondary and second secondary high school certificates
  • Official copy of the 2013 - 2014 or 2014 - 2015 thanawiya amma certificate or other accredited certificates
  • Proof of extracurricular activities (i.e. copy of certificates)
  • Recent official valid IELTS test results, with a minimum total score of 6, or an equivalent iBT score

For first-year university applicants, the below documents are also required:

  • An enrollment letter from the university
  • Official copy of first-year grades
