Dame Minouche Shafik, the first female director of the London School of Economics and Political Science who studied at AUC from 1979 to 1980, has been appointed by the Queen of England to be a Life Peer in the House of Lords

Mariam Ayad '94, associate professor of Egyptology, has been appointed a research associate at the Women's Studies in Religion Program of the Harvard Divinity School for the 2020-2021 academic year. Ayad is the second Egyptologist to take up this position since the program's inception almost 50 years ago.

Five months ago, Sarah Seif '18 landed a job at Egypt's Ministry of State for Information through AUC's Career Center. Today, she is the crisis communications and media monitoring manager at the ministry, making her one of the youngest managers there at age 23.


Being, a short film by Malak El Araby, a graduating senior majoring in film, was one of 10  short films selected for the African Women in the Time of COVID-19 Short Film Competition. El Araby was the only Egyptian woman to win.


Nouran Gohar, construction engineering major and recipient of the Wadi Degla Endowed Scholarship for Student Athletes, has claimed the Women's World No. 1 ranking in squash.


Congratulations to AUC's Society of Petroleum Engineers for receiving the Student Chapter Excellence Award, recognizing top SPE student chapters worldwide.
