Fall 2021 Dates
Assessments will run between October 10 and October 28, 2021. Faculty could request an online survey or a Small-Group Instructional Diagnosis (SGID) via the link shared on email. If you have any questions, send an email.
Surveys are tailored to help instructors get feedback from students in the middle of the semester in time for them to make adjustments for the remaining part of the semester. Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) collaborates with instructors to develop the survey, administers it online, and finally produces a report. Several faculty members find pre and post-assessment consultations with CLT to be valuable in designing the assessments and acting upon feedback received from students. Student response has been very positive to Mid-Semester Assessment (MSA); they appreciate the instructor's willingness to receive their feedback and act upon it appropriately. Small-Group Instructional Diagnosis
Small-Group Instructional Diagnosis (SGID) is a formative assessment tool in which students are asked about what helps them learn and their suggestions on how to improve their learning experience in a course. Upon the instructor's request, two CLT staff members facilitate a discussion with students about their learning experience. CLT shares a summary report of student feedback and suggested recommendations (where appropriate) with the instructor. Learn more about how SGIDs are conducted.
How to Request a Mid-Semester Assessment?
Every semester CLT shares a Mid-Semester Assessment request form with all faculty. Make sure you place your request through the announced link.
- All CLT assessments are confidential and are only shared with the course instructor
- Faculty members are always welcome for pre and post-assessment consultations
