Scholarships for Egyptian Students

AUC offers scholarships based on merit and need. Generally, scholarships are reserved for students with strong academic qualifications who demonstrate high financial need.

Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship Program

The Tomorrow's Leaders Scholarship program is funded through the US Department of State, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs for qualified and highly motivated high school seniors in the Middle East and North Africa who come from diverse backgrounds. The program provides four-year university scholarships and internship opportunities at select institutions of higher learning in the Middle East to students who have the potential to become leaders.

USAID Scholars

The USAID Scholars Activity, implemented by The American University in Cairo, offers a number of opportunities for four or five years of university scholarships (which may be preceded by a preliminary year) depending on the specialization/major of study.

Egyptian Public School Scholarships 

AUC along with other individuals and corporations launched the Public School Scholarship Fund (PSSF) to expand opportunities to Egyptian students who are graduates of public schools in Egypt. The selection is based on high academic achievement and financial need.

Empower Scholarship 

AUC provides five full and/or partial annual scholarships to Thanaweya  Amma graduates from five governorates in Upper Egypt: Assiut, Beni Suef, Minya, Sohag, and Fayoum. The Empower scholarship aims to provide the best public and private national school students with an opportunity to pursue their academic careers at AUC. Selected students benefit from AUC’s liberal arts education, diverse majors and extensive student-life services.

Green Environment Scholarship

This is a partial scholarship awarded every semester for continuing students that will fund the cost of three credit hours of instruction in a degree program at AUC. Students must demonstrate financial need, have had clean conduct and academic integrity record for the previous semester, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, be registered as a full-time student, and demonstrate a positive contribution to the AUC Tobacco-Free initiative

The AUC Liberal Arts Undergraduate Scholarship

Building upon AUC’s commitment to internationalization and to offer exceptional liberal arts education in a cross-cultural environment and promoting liberal arts education in Egypt, The AUC liberal arts undergraduate scholarship will offer exceptional partial and full undergraduate scholarships to students from Egypt, the region, and the United States to study humanities and social sciences.

Student Life Scholarships

I. The Cultural Scholarship

This is a scholarship awarded every fall semester. Students awarded this scholarship receive a partial reduction in their tuition for a maximum of 15 credit hours per semester.

II. The Student Union (SU) Scholarship

This is a partial scholarship that is awarded every fall and spring semester for continuing students.

III. Athletic Scholarship

This is an annual scholarship provided to a select number of students who participate in University-sponsored sports. Students who are awarded this scholarship receive a partial reduction in their tuition for a maximum of 15 credit hours per semester.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, AUC offers named scholarship opportunities supported by individuals and corporations. These remarkable awards from donors have allowed AUC to recruit and educate outstanding and eligible students who come from different cities and educational backgrounds. The selection of named scholarships is based on the donor’s criteria.

Al Alfi Foundation Undergraduate STEM Scholarship

The Al Alfi scholarship program is designed to prepare future Egyptian scientists. The scholarship provides partial tuition to undergraduates students at AUC.

George Frederick Jewett Foundation East

This is a grant established to support undergraduate female students from Egyptian public schools.

Misr El Kheir STEM Scholarship

The Misr El Kheir (MEK) Foundation is an Egyptian not-for-profit foundation committed to developing Egyptian citizens and communities. The foundation shares the costs of the MEK scholarship program with AUC to provide students who graduated with a STEM certificate with a full-tuition scholarship, in addition to books. In Fall 2014, AUC admitted three MEK-STEM students to complete their undergraduate science degree at AUC.

Note: The MEK scholarship is currently not accepting new applications.

OC-AUC Scholarship 

AUC partnered with Orascom Construction Limited to offer the OC-AUC scholarship program. The scholarship provides full-tuition annual scholarships to public or private high school graduates from eight governorates in Upper Egypt: Assiut, Bani Suef, Minya, Sohag, Fayoum, Qena, Luxor, and Aswan.

USAID Egypt IIE - LSP Scholarship Program

The Local Scholarship Program (LSP) is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with the support of the American people. The program is part of the US - Egypt Higher Education Initiative (HEI). The US - Egypt Higher Education Initiative is an investment in Egypt’s future that provides educational opportunities for high-achieving Egyptians to learn skills that will better meet the needs of the 21st-century economy. The program is managed by the Institute of International Education (IIE), in partnership with a consortium of Egyptian partner universities and organizations.

Sawiris Undergraduate Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Sawiris Foundation for Social Development and the American University of Cairo initiated the Sawiris Undergraduate Scholarship for Students with Disabilities to expand opportunities to academically outstanding students with disabilities by admitting them to the AUC in order to create a nationwide network of youth who are well-educated and passionate about their country’s development.

Awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.

Youssef Nabih Endowed Scholarship in Accounting

Established in 2004 to support the graduating senior with the highest grade point average in the accounting department.

Academic Achievement Scholarship

The achievement scholarship is only available to current students who were admitted to AUC before Fall 2015.
