Spoken Arabic of Cairo

Are you a complete beginner in speaking Arabic, with little or no prior knowledge of Arabic? Do you need the basic language skills for traveling in and around Egypt and most Arabic-speaking countries? Do you want to understand and run very simple conversations either face-to-face or over the phone? Do you want o to learn the language used in hotels, transport, restaurants, stores? This four-day workshop course lasting over 20 hours is the ideal course for you.

Elementary Spoken Arabic of Cairo - Lower Level

  • This is a course in conversational Egyptian Arabic for learners with limited introductory exposure to Arabic. The course introduces the fundamentals of Cairo's spoken Arabic, including basic interaction skills in a communicative setting.

Elementary Spoken Arabic of Cairo - Upper Level

  • This is a conversational Egyptian Arabic course for learners with little prior exposure. The course introduces the fundamentals of spoken Arabic in Cairo. It helps learners handle the most normal, frequent social conversational situations and develops the appropriate vocabulary to meet that purpose.

    Grammar structures such as participles, modals, base forms of verbs in the present tense, future tense and habitual present simple tense, ordinal numbers (masculine and feminine), compound sentences, conjunctions, adjectives, and comparatives, is practiced.

Intermediate Spoken Arabic of Cairo - Lower Level

  • This is a course in conversational Egyptian Arabic for learners with some prior exposure. The course helps learners communicate, interact, and conduct longer conversations with native speakers and greater facilities. Skills attained include asking and answering predictable and unpredictable questions in the workplace, eliciting information, and expressing opinions. It introduces vocabulary that is appropriate for high-frequency utterances. Learners can accurately form and understand more complicated grammar structures. They can handle conversations dealing with situations in a wider scope of issues.

Intermediate Spoken Arabic of Cairo - Upper Level

  • This is a course in conversational Egyptian Arabic for learners with substantial knowledge. More complicated grammar structures are widely covered in this course, and learners use structural devices flexibly and elaborately. The expanded vocabulary enables learners to speak fluently and accurately in their communication and interaction. This level covers a wide range of interactive situations ranging in occurrence from the daily to the occasional.

Advanced Spoken Arabic of Cairo - Lower Level

  • This course develops the speaking skill to reach a high level of fluency in the learners’ ability to express themselves effectively. A variety of topics are included in a wide range of social, cultural, and personal topics. Free discussions emphasize cultural characteristics and differences. Learners develop debating skills by presenting and supporting their opinions. Other topics include social and domestic problems, moral and immoral conduct, and imaginative situations. Issues discussed range in the frequency of their occurrence. Learners get to advance their knowledge of grammatical structures.

Advanced Spoken Arabic of Cairo - Upper Level

  • This course develops the learners' speaking fluency, whereby their ability to express themselves effectively is highly emphasized. Issues relevant to Egyptian culture are emphasized. Learners get to compare different cultures; express their opinions through simulations and debates. More advanced grammar structures are targeted. Learners are exposed to more authentic material. Also, the learners’ ability to get the gist of jokes, use proverbs, and sing songs are the focus of this course.
