Forbes Middle East recently identified 30 promising innovators under 30 years old from the region who have proven their ability to accomplish major feats and make a difference despite their age. Leading representation on the list is Egypt, with eight individuals. Jordan and Lebanon follow with four. The list features five AUC alumni this year.
Habiba Abouzied, communication and media arts major, and Omar Shaarawy '21, multimedia journalism, received the Broadcast Education Association’s Award of Excellence for their public service announcement on Memorable Moments in Broadcast History.
As of July 2021, John Meloy became AUC’s new dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He earned his PhD in history from the University of Chicago and has a track record of academic achievements, including a record of research and publication in Islamic history, with a specialization in the Mamluk era.
