Kevin O’Connell is a Professor of practice in general management at the AUC School of Business. Professor O’Connell graduated magna cum laude (with high honors) from Harvard University. He additionally holds an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and conducted post-graduate research at IMD, in Lausanne, Switzerland. O’Connell has more than 25 years’ experience as a senior executive, with a broad track record in financial control and business planning and analysis in both small and medium sized enterprises and large multinational companies.
Upon joining The American University in Cairo in 2011, O’Connell held the Willard W. Brown Chair of International Business Leadership (2011 to 2014). Notably, he reintroduced the teaching of leadership classes at the School. O’Connell served as Associate Dean for Executive Education (2013 to 2018). During his tenure, he restructured the Executive Education function, producing significant cost savings and a more focused operation. In addition, O’Connell served as Associate Dean at the School of Continuing Education (2013 to 2015). He was responsible for strategic planning and re-focused the largest outreach arm of AUC. O’Connell teaches leadership to undergraduates, graduates and executives. He also teaches international business and general management.
