Brief Biography

Erika Van Winden is an instructor in the Department of Rhetoric and Composition at The American University in Cairo.  She has taught in Turkey, Indonesia, Afghanistan, and Egypt where she was awarded a Fellowship to complete her Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at AUC.  Before that, she received her BFA in Creative Writing from the University of Victoria Canada.

Erika's article, "A Conducive Speaking Lesson Plan that Facilitates Grammar," was published in the 2013 NileTESOL Conference proceedings. She has had short stories and poems published in Canadian literary journals aswell.
