What is Personally Identifiable Information (PII)?

  1. Full Name: A student's, faculty member's, or staff's name.
  2. Student ID Number: A unique identifier assigned to each student.
  3. Contact Information: Email addresses, phone numbers, and home addresses.
  4. Social Security Number (SSN): If the university uses SSNs for identification.
  5. Date of Birth: Used to verify identity or age.
  6. Academic Records: Transcripts, grades, and course enrollments.
  7. Financial Information: Payment details, scholarships, loans, or billing information.
  8. Enrollment Information: Registration status, major, or academic progress.
  9. Biometric Data: Fingerprints or facial recognition data used for access control (if applicable).
  10. Photographs: Photos taken for university IDs, websites, or other official use.
