Graduate Student Symposium
May 3 - 5, 2014 • AUC New Cairo
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, in coordination with the Office of the Dean of Graduate Studies, are pleased to announce The American University in Cairo's 2013 - 2014 annual research symposium.
This symposium seeks to highlight the work of AUC's graduate students across the humanities, social sciences, sciences and policy studies. Ideally, research questions should be focused on the Middle East, Africa or South Asia. Through this South-South focus, the symposium hopes to encourage comparative discussions that address alternative geographical imaginings from across various disciplines. These include anthropology, sociology, philosophy, law, history, comparative literature, political science, psychology, economics, and public policy and administration, and in the fields of area studies, migration and refugee studies, sustainable development, education, and gender and sexuality. All graduate students are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity to present new work and approaches, in discussion with faculty members and other students.
