Blackboard Build Your Course Day
This idea came out of a brainstorming session about the possible ways for CLT to better support faculty members in their course design and technology. It’s also been clear, from both user analytics of blackboard and anecdotal reports from faculty, that blackboard features and functionalities are not made adequate use of. In other words, there are technical features that blackboard offers that can technologically enhance the learning experience for students and faculty but faculty members are not using those at all. Thus the purpose of this day-long workshop is to help faculty members become aware of the wide array of blackboard features and how using them pedagogically can help facilitate or enhance their students’ learning experience.
Additionally, it’s to facilitate the process of building their course on blackboard early on before the semester starts including upload materials, create quizzes or interactive activities, upload assignment documents. This is because many faculty members don’t find adequate time to do these tasks during the semester. Additionally, this is a way to provide pedagogical support and guidance to faculty while simultaneously providing educational technology support as well.
This day would work best if participants bring as much of their content with them so they spend the day working on actually building their course with the material they will use during the semester.
