Senior Specialist, Research, Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (Grant Position)

Reports to: Project Research Manager, Center for Migration and Refugee Studies

Purpose: The purpose of the job is to provide research and administrative assistance for the implementation of the research project on Egyptian labor migration to Jordan

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Carry out desk research and literature review as directed by the project research manager
  • Assist the project consultants in the collection of data on Egyptian migration statistics and on Egyptian and Jordanian labor markets
  • Assist the project consultants in the analysis of survey results
  • Transcribe interviews with stakeholders, take notes during interviews, and carry out interviews when needed
  • Assist the project research manager in writing progress narrative report to the sponsor
  • Write first drafts of research reports as directed by the project manager and project consultants
  • Assist the project research manager in writing the final research report
  • Assist the project research manager in the dissemination activities
  • Provide all the needed logistics assistance during the research and dissemination activities
  • Carry out any other administrative and research-related activities needed by the project

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement: BA in economics, sociology or political science. An MA is a plus

Experience: Proven record of at least four years of similar research experience

Skills:

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Fluency in speaking and writing in English and Arabic
  • Experience working with Statistical Analysis Software like SPSS
  • Ability to work and think independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
