Web Communication and Technical Support, Office of Advancement and Communications (Casual Position for One Year)

Reports to: Senior Director, Digital Communications

Purpose: The holder of this position will act as the technical communications and reporting expert for the AUC website, making sure that the AUC technical update system is running smoothly. He/ She will be in charge of technical support to users including training, troubleshooting and users privileges identification. He/She will also be in charge of issuing website analytics reports, which necessitate knowledge of google analytics, google search findings and web reporting systems.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the continuous market research needed for developing the AUC website content and structure, ensuring continuous follow up to higher education technical digital communications updates and making sure that AUC website meets them all

  • Provide recommendations for new applications or components that can be added to enrich Web communications

  • Oversee content expiration and outdated workflow to ensure that AUC website content is always fresh

  • Manage any testing needed for new technical requirements to ensure that these requirements are implemented and that there are no bugs or glitches on the website

  • Implement any technical updates/amendments on the Website

  • Ensure the efficiency of the technical support system for the website users; including users training, defining privileges and access limits, provision of technical support based on a strict ticketed web support system

  • Continuous clean‐up of all servers, broken links, libraries maintenance, widgets maintenance, and back-end regular cleanup

  • Develop an efficient system for measurement and reporting to constitute the base for any structure or content allocation decisions

  • Issue Google analytics reports on a regular basis; which helps in the making of sound marketing decisions

  • Review Google Findings and Search Results and ensure that the correct information appears

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement: 

  • Bachelor of Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Minimum of seven years of experience with five years in the Web development field

Skills:

Technical Competencies:

  • Microsoft SharePoint / WSS (Windows SharePoint Server) development and administration/Drupal

  • NET technologies (ASP.NET, C#, VS.NET, php)

  • XML, WSDL, and Web Services

  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

  • Multi‐tier architecture

  • SQL and relational databases is a strong plus

  • Experience in object-oriented design and development

  • Experience in research for the latest technology and ability to decide on the best technology to be used for AUC website

  • Excellent analytical and problem‐solving skills

  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
