Researcher, Archivist, Law and Society Research Unit (LSRU), School of GAPP - Tahrir Campus (Grant Position) (50030986 )

Reports to: Senior Archive and Research Coordinator and Senior Outreach and Hub Coordinator

Purpose: The researcher, archive is expected to contribute the LSRU research plan and implement LSRU’s archive plan in order to further develop, maintain and promote the LSRU digital archive - manshurat qanuneya - in the context of LSRU’s strategic plan.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Digital Archive

    • Draft archive sector strategies.

    • Assist with collecting material for the digital archive.

    • Review weekly input of the official gazette.

    • Assist with the quantitative as well as the qualitative developments of the digital archive platform manshurat qanuneya.

    • Assist with training on digital archiving.

    • Suggest, edit and review tags for archiving purposes.

    • Assist with developing a manual for digital archiving of legal documents.

    • All other archive related duties of relevance to ESSE Project.

  • Research

    • Engage in research identifying areas of relevance to LSRU strategic plan.

    • Participate and contribute with original research output at LSRU academic conferences and publications, as well as international and local academic conferences of relevance to ESSE project

  • Outreach

    • Design and implement LSRU outreach events ranging from public seminars to closed workshops, on the broad issue of relevance to ESSE project, archives, and access to information.

    • Liaise with the outreach team on activities related to the promotion and progress of manshurat qanuneya.

    • All other outreach related duties of relevance to ESSE project.



Minimum Education Requirement:  Bachelor’s Degree in law or another relevant field in humanities and social sciences.


  • Minimum seven years of experience

  • Experience in digital archiving is a plus

  • Experience in planning workshops and/or delivering training

  • Experience in facilitation and public speaking 


  • High teamwork skills

  • Ability to manage a complex workload and work to tight deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills

  • Excellent command of Arabic and English language
