Our Mission

The Academic English for Graduates (AEG) program helps graduate students to use academic English effectively in their chosen advanced degree programs. Dedicated instructors facilitate the development of students’ academic English, critical thinking and information literacy skills needed at the graduate level. This is achieved in small, learner-centered classes using personalized feedback, authentic materials and digital resources.

Director's Welcome

Welcome to the graduate program of the Department of English Language Instruction (ELI) at AUC. This program is designed to help you develop the language skills you need in order to successfully complete your graduate studies at AUC. Based on your test scores, you have been placed in the part of our program that best addresses your language needs. We strive to keep our classes small so that we can give you individual attention. The amount of time that you spend in ELI will depend on the time and effort you devote to your language and studies.

Your input concerning our program is valued, so please feel free to raise issues of concern with your teachers or with us. We extend our best wishes to you for success in ELI and in your graduate studies at AUC.
