By supporting AUC’s awards and tributes, you can help honor the outstanding students, faculty and staff whose remarkable achievements make a positive impact in their fields and beyond. Awards and Tributes List


Over the years, awards have become one of the main highlights of the University’s commencement ceremonies and they instill much pride in our students and faculty. Loyal members of our AUC community also created tributes in honor or memory of faculty, students, alumni, or friends to celebrate their achievements and create an enduring legacy for them at AUC.

 

George T. Scanlon Graduate Student Award in Arab and Islamic Civilizations

This fund provides an annual cash prize for the most distinguished graduate thesis produced by an Arab and Islamic Civilizations (ARIC) student.

 

Medhat Haroun Endowed Award for Scholarly Excellence

This fund provides an annual cash award for the best graduate thesis in the School of Sciences and Engineering.

 

J. Duggan Endowed Memorial Fund for AUC Library Staff

This fund provides library staff with training and development, including English training at AUC and local and regional conferences and workshops on library skills, Egyptology, archival systems, and information technology services.

 

Mahmoud El Lozy Endowed Award for Excellence in Theatre

Established in February 2022 by multiple donors in the memory of Dr. Mahmoud El Lozy '76, '79, professor of theatre, and in tribute to his instrumental contribution to the arts at AUC.

 

Nadia Younes Memorial Lecture

This Nadia Younes fund enables the university to invite renowned international figures in the field of politics, international relations, or humanitarian affairs to deliver a lecture on the AUC campus.
