Senior Student Technology Assistant Program Coordinator, The Center for Learning and Teaching

Reports to:  Manager, Instructional Design, CLT

Purpose:  Under the supervision of the instructional design manager, the incumbent will supervise the day to day work of all student technology assistants (STAs), both within center for learning and teaching (CLT) and the library learning commons (LLC). This will include coordinating with faculty to provide appropriate STA support and help, and managing the STA working hours. The incumbent will be responsible for the recruitment, training and ongoing assessment of STAs and when needed support faculty with the use of learning technologies. The coordinator will also assist with any tasks within CLT and the university involving STAs.

Principal Accountabilities:

Under the supervision of the manager, instructional design the incumbent will:

  • Coordinate the recruitment of all STAs which includes: vacancy announcements, interviews, evaluating and testing, hiring and continuous appraisals of performance
  • Ensure that all STAs receive the appropriate training necessary to perform their tasks and meet their obligations
  • Coordinate all appointments between STAs and faculty and ensure that faculty receive the appropriate service they require
  • Coordinate the working hours of all STAs (both in CLT and LC) and ensure availability of STAs to support faculty and LC patrons during working hours (8:30am - 4:00pm)
  • Provide direct technical support to faculty when STAs are not available
  • Provide required support to the CLT director as needed
  • Provide support to the LC library coordinator with all tasks involved in managing the LC
  • Plan, keep track of and communicate STA payments and program expenses in a timely manner
  • Coordinate and implement STA program marketing to faculty and students which includes: distributing digital and print marketing material, electronic posting of information and announcements related to the STA program, updating the STA web page with relevant information as needed. Monitor the quality of the service of STA service providers and report on issues or complaints to the ID Manager in a timely fashion;

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to student workers (STAs and interns) relative to their job performance, professionalism, and work habits
  • Coordinate the collection and compilation of all data related to STA activities during the academic year, to include:
    • including the end of semester evaluations of the STAs by faculty 
    • bi-annual monitoring and evaluation
    • performance appraisal reports
  • Participate in CLT events and coordinate/oversee STA participation and technical support during these events
  • Collaborate on projects within CLT based on the center’s needs
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned
  • Engage in professional development activities as directed by the instructional design manager. These activities will include
    • Job shadowing members of the Digital Education and Educational design and assessment teams

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement 

  • Required - Bachelor's degree in relevant field (ex: teaching, educational technology, instructional design…)
  • Preferred - Master’s degree in relevant, related field – for example educational technology, instructional design, educational leadership

Experience:

Required

  • Three to five years of experience in related field
  • Working knowledge of educational technologies

Preferred

  • Experience delivering IT training is a plus
  • Experience assisting technology utilization in an educational environment is a plus 
  • Experience in managing workloads and time sheets for staff is a plus

Skills:

Required

  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel PowerPoint

Preferred

  • Data analysis skills
  • Basic knowledge of pedagogy
  • Working knowledge of Blackboard, Panopto, Moodle, Zoom
