Research Logistics Coordinator II, Center for Applied Research on the Environment and Sustainability (CARES)

Reports to: Operations Manager

Purpose: This job aims at providing the Center for Applied Research on the Environment and Sustainability (CARES) with all purchasing and requirements needed for operating and equipping the center all over the year. The items purchased should be as the agreed plan and budget in a suitable time, good quality, and best prices.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Prepare an annual purchasing plan in cooperation with CARES managers
  • Provide all CARES sites and departments with requested supplies, equipment, and required services
  • Coordinate all CARES purchases and purchasing procedures with the CARES staff and managers
  • Communicate and negotiate with vendors, companies, and suppliers to get the purchases in time with suitable prices
  • Responsible for preparing the reports on adjustments done to inventories that may be damaged, spoilt and coordinates the purchasing and inventory functions
  • Maintain records and documents related to purchasing systems and procedures
  • Ensure the correct and timely valuation of the inventory and to be involved in directing and managing procedures related to offloading, packing and unpacking
  • Communicate with AUC's Office of Supply Chain Management and Business Support, and facilitate all purchasing requests, purchasing orders, and other procedures according to the AUC financial system
  • Receive, record and store CARES supplies items according to storage guidelines
  • Meet all urgent purchasing needs immediately for CARES researches
  • Arrange regular maintenance and spare parts as needed
  • Maintain CARES vehicle records, renewal of licenses and insurance log
  • Manage standing cash advances from CARES budget and from grants and projects
  • Carry any additional responsibilities as assigned by management


Minimum Education Requirement:  

  • University degree in a relevant field


  • Minimum five to seven years of experience


  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work with others and work to maintain cordial relations
  • High level of confidentiality and attention to details
  • Communication and problem-solving skills and ability to perform under stress
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and the Internet
  • Good knowledge of English language
