Specialist, Research Administration, Center of Nanoelectronics and Devices, School of Science and Engineering (Grant Position)

Reports to: Manager, Center of Nanoelectronics and Devices (CND), School of Science and Engineering

 

Purpose: The holder of this position handles and protects all confidential and sensitive data with integrity, participates in and helps research project management, supports in writing technical reports, proposals and thesis. In addition to revising technical papers written and submitted by RA’s before being finally revised by the director, responding to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing and interpreting data. He or she prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements, answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations in the AUC and conforming to its needs.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Handles and protects confidential and sensitive data with integrity
  • Cooperates with staff to plan, develop and maintain the center’s day to day business transactions
  • Participates in and helps enhance strategic and project management
  • Reviews technical mail and emails and determine course of action when appropriate
  • Reviews technical reports, proposals and thesis
  • Facilitates development of the center
  • Collects and coordinates data needed by the director
  • Translates, edits, formats and proofreads technical reports
  • Maintains records and data
  • Resolves problems which may involve research and data collection
  • Ensures the smooth operations of the daily business activities
  • Responsible for software licensing and installation in the center‘s lab
  • Maintains ongoing licensing
  • Makes assessment in purchasing needed lab equipment and software
  • Coordinates the activities of research assistants
  • Ensures that team members have the needed tools and provides timely feedback
  • Assesses project issues and provides and facilitates solutions
  • Communicates work collaboratively and tracks project progress with RA’s and faculty to meet publishing deadlines appropriately
  • Follows-up financial reimbursements for RAs and faculty related to projects
  • Monitors and reports vacation and other absences for all staff under the direct supervision of center management
  • Develops, coordinates and reviews research study procedures to ensure receipt, completeness and accuracy of research data required for studies
  • Reports to the manager of the center

 

Requirements:

Minimum education requirement: University graduate

Experience: A minimum of five years of previous experience

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Professional research and planning skills
  • Excellent Arabic and English languages, both verbal and written
  • Proficient computer user with Microsoft Office and Photoshop or other drawing and artistic application
