Spring 2020

Building upon AUC’s commitment to internationalization and to offer exceptional liberal arts education in a cross-cultural environment and promoting liberal arts education in Egypt. The AUC liberal arts undergraduate scholarship will offer exceptional partial and full undergraduate scholarships to students from Egypt, the region, and the United States to study humanities and social sciences.

Eligibility:

  • Must demonstrate outstanding academic qualifications
  • Meet AUC's admission requirements
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Must pass either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum band score of 6 and writing score of 6 or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum total score of 76 and writing score of 20
  • Must be interested in majoring in one of the following fields of study at AUC:  anthropology, arts, Arab and Islamic civilizations, Egyptology, English and comparative literature, history, psychology, philosophy, political science and sociology

Egyptian Public School Scholarship Fund (PSSF)

AUC launched the Public School Scholarship Fund (PSSF) in 1990, to expand opportunities to academically outstanding and financially disadvantaged students. Selection of finalists is based on high academic achievement, need and geographic diversity. Supported by both individuals and corporations, the PSSF has graduated more than 280 students, who attended public schools and who have demonstrated exceptional academic potential while at AUC.

Today, over 100 PSSF recipients are enrolled at AUC; over 30 of them are supported by individual and corporate donors, while the remaining students are awarded scholarships funded by AUC.

Eligibility

Applicants should:

  • Apply for admission at AUC before the assigned deadline for the spring semesters. For deadline and other details, refer to this link
  • Must be Egyptian students graduating from public schools (not including language schools), experimental, STEM and Nile schools
  • Have an outstanding secondary school academic record
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Meet AUC admission requirements

This is a partial scholarship awarded every semester for continuing students that will fund the cost of three credit hours of instruction in a degree program at AUC. Students must demonstrate financial need, have had clean conduct and academic integrity record for the previous semester, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, be registered as a full-time student and demonstrate a positive contribution to the AUC Tobacco-Free initiative.

This is a partial scholarship that is awarded every Fall and Spring semester for continuing students. 

Eligibility:

  • Students must demonstrate financial need
  • Students must submit a personal statement for the previous semester
  • Students must be registered for a minimum of 12 credits per semester

Established in 2011 to provide support to one male and one female Egyptian student who attended an Egyptian public high school. Selection is based on an assessment of leadership skills, financial need, academic achievement and a demonstrated commitment to community service.

Established in 2010 as a partial scholarship for a talented and dedicated undergraduate student. Students who are in their junior year at AUC (defined as having earned not less than 60 credit hours and not more than 90 credit hours at the time) are eligible to receive this partial scholarship and be designated as the Hisham Ezz Al Arab Scholar.

The Abdulhadi H. Taher Endowed Scholarships provide full or partial support to Egyptian and Saudi Arabian students who demonstrate financial need and outstanding academic performance. The fund also provides housing for Saudi Arabian students or Egyptian students who live outside Cairo and Giza.

To provide partial/full support for qualified and talented Palestinian students to study at AUC. Students must demonstrate financial need and academic merit. 
The Palestinian Endowed Scholarship is supported by the following funds:

To partially support the tuition and fees of two students (preferably female) in the School of Business, concentration in Finance. The scholarship will be granted to students who demonstrate outstanding academic record and financial need.

This is an annual scholarship provided to a select number of students who participate in University-sponsored sports. Students who are awarded this scholarship receive up to 15 percent reduction in their tuition for a maximum of 15 credit hours per semester. 

Eligibility:

  • Students must demonstrate financial need
  • Students must submit their "athletic resume" to the Office of Athletics 
  • Students must be registered for a minimum of 12 credits per semester

This is a scholarship awarded every Fall semester. Students awarded this scholarship receive up to 15 percent reduction in their tuition. 

Eligibility: 

  • Students must demonstrate financial need
  • Students must submit a personal statement of their cultural contributions and activities supported by official documents that can be verified
  • Students must be registered for a minimum of 12 credits per semester

The Hadhramout Foundation Scholarship will support a total of 15 high achieving undergraduate Yemeni students, to pursue their studies in one of the majors offered at AUC. Students need to demonstrate academic merit and financial need.

Ten Students will be supported in the following fields: 

  • School of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • School of Business and/or School of Global Affairs and Public Policy

Five Students will be supported in the following fields:

  • School of Sciences and Engineering

Applicants must fulfill the below criteria:

  • Yemeni National
  • Register for this scholarship with the Hadhramout Foundation
  • For continuing students; to maintain the scholarship, the recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.0
  • Financial need

The scholarship covers:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Housing for a double room
  • Monthly stipend for 12 months

The Simpson Endowed Scholarships for Year Abroad Program in Egyptology will award both undergraduate and graduate non-degree students seeking to study Egyptology at AUC, with a preference given to those enrolled in US colleges and universities.

It is awarded initially for one semester and is renewable depending on eligibility, based on academic progress. 
It is to be used for covering tuition and/or AUC housing. 

Eligibility:

  1. The student must enroll in at least nine credit hours in Egyptology.
  2. The applicant must write a 1,500-word essay on why he/she wants to study Egyptology at AUC, including referring to three Egyptology courses which he/she wishes to take at AUC.

The award is given to undergraduate students enrolled in US universities. 
It is to be used to covering tuition and/or AUC housing

Eligibility: 

  1. Applicants should have an interest in the Middle East to pursue Middle East studies, political science or history at AUC for one semester/year
  2. GPA should be a minimum of 3.2 or more
  3. Minimum number of credit hours should be 12 credits during the semester of the award
  4. It is awarded for one semester and can be extended to one year based on merit

To support US undergraduate or graduate non-degree students who demonstrate academic merit to study at AUC for one semester. 

Eligibility:

  1. The applicants' last home institution in the United States
  2. The applicants have to satisfy AUC's study abroad undergraduate and graduate admission requirements
  3. Undergraduate applicants need to take a minimum of 12 credits
  4. Graduate applicants need to take a minimum of nine credits
  5. The applicant must submit a 1000-word essay on why he/she would like to study at AUC and Egypt at large
  6. Recommendation letter(s) from the faculty member(s) (at least one must be submitted)

To provide one-semester support to outstanding US graduate students wishing to study abroad at AUC. This fund would be open to American graduate students in all disciplines who are committed to utilizing their AUC experience to promote greater understanding and relations between Egypt and the United States.

  2. The applicant must submit a 1000-word essay on why he/she would like to study at AUC and Egypt at large
