AUC launched the Public School Scholarship Fund (PSSF) in 1990 to expand opportunities to academically outstanding and financially disadvantaged students. Selection of finalists is based on high academic achievement, need and geographic diversity. Supported by both individuals and corporations, the PSSF has graduated more than 280 students who attended public schools and who have demonstrated exceptional academic potential while at AUC.

Today, over 100 PSSF recipients are enrolled at AUC; over 30 of them are supported by individual and corporate donors, while the remaining students are awarded scholarships funded by AUC.

The Abdulhadi H. Taher Endowed Scholarships provides full or partial support to Egyptian and Saudi Arabian students who demonstrate financial need and outstanding academic performance. The fund also provides housing for Saudi Arabian students or Egyptian students who live outside Cairo and Giza.

AUC partnered with Orascom Construction Limited to offer the OCL - AUC scholarship program. The scholarship
provides full-tuition annual scholarships to public or private high school graduates from eight governorates in Upper Egypt: Assiut, Bani Suef, Minya, Sohag, Fayoum, Qena, Luxor and Aswan.

Building upon AUC’s commitment to internationalization and to offer exceptional liberal arts education in a cross-cultural environment and promoting liberal arts education in Egypt. The AUC liberal arts undergraduate scholarship will offer exceptional partial and full undergraduate scholarships to students from Egypt, the region, and the United States to study humanities and social sciences.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must demonstrate outstanding academic qualifications (achieve a minimum score of 95% in the science section and 90 % in the arts section in Thanaweya Amma or its equivalent in other international certificates)
  • Meet AUC's admission requirements
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Must pass either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum band score of 6 and writing score of 6 or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum total score of 76 and writing score of 20
  • Must be interested in majoring in one of the following fields of study at AUC:  anthropology, arts, Arab and Islamic civilizations, Egyptology, English and comparative literature, history, psychology, philosophy, political science and sociology. For more information about the different majors, click here.

The Simpson Endowed Scholarships for Year Abroad Program in Egyptology will award both undergraduate and graduate non-degree students seeking to study Egyptology at AUC, with a preference given to those enrolled in U.S. colleges and universities.

It is awarded initially for one semester and is renewable depending on eligibility, based on academic progress. 

It is to be used for covering tuition and/or AUC housing. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. The student must enroll in at least nine credit hours in Egyptology 
  2. The applicant must write a 1,500-word essay on why he/she wants to study Egyptology at AUC, including referring to three Egyptology courses which he/she wishes to take at AUC

The award is given to undergraduate students enrolled in U.S. universities. 

It is to be used to covering tuition and or/AUC housing

Eligibility Criteria: 

  1. Applicants should have an interest in the Middle East to pursue Middle East studies, political science or history at AUC for one semester/year
  2. GPA should be a minimum of 3.2 or more
  3. Minimum number of credit hours should be 12 credits during the semester of the award
  4. It is awarded for one semester and can be extended to one year based on merit

To support U.S. undergraduate or graduate non-degree students who demonstrate academic merit to study at AUC for one semester. 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The applicants' last home institution in the United States
  2. The applicants have to satisfy AUC's study abroad undergraduate and graduate admission requirements
  3. Undergraduate applicants need to take a minimum of 12 credits
  4. Graduate applicants need to take a minimum of nine credits
  5. The applicant must submit a 1000-word essay on why he/she would like to study at AUC and Egypt at large
  6. Recommendation letter(s) from the faculty member(s) (at least one must be submitted)

To provide one-semester support to outstanding U.S. graduate students wishing to study abroad at AUC. This fund would be open to American graduate students in all disciplines who are committed to utilizing their AUC experience to promote greater understanding and relations between Egypt and the United States.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. The applicants have to satisfy AUC's study abroad admission requirements  
  2. The applicant must submit a 1000-word essay on why he/she would like to study at AUC and Egypt at large
  3. To register in nine credit hours

  • Eligible students must be accepted into an exchange or study abroad program managed by the International Programs Office at AUC
  • Students must meet all of AUC’s requirements for study abroad/exchange program
  • Students must be holding the Egyptian nationality
  • Demonstrate financial need and outstanding academic performance

Scholarship Coverage:

In the case of study abroad: to cover the difference between the cost of 15 credits at AUC and the host university.

In case of exchange: to cover part of  dorm and board expenses at the host university

Fund Criteria:

  • To support AUC undergraduate students to further their education through study, travel or work in Germany

  • This award will support students who clearly demonstrate how their experience at a German university, German company or in a German artist residence will make an impact on their lives
  • Moreover, this fund may be used to complete a gap year to travel for an educational endeavor, professional experience, artistic residence or activities related to history. It may be used to close the difference between other grants to reach the amount needed to attend university
  • The award must support a least two students per year who have demonstrated financial need and have a GPA of at least 3.4
  • Eligible students must meet all of AUC's requirements for study abroad, including proof of student exchange, internship or artist residence in Germany

Scholarship Coverage:

In the case of study abroad: to cover the difference between the cost of 15 credits at AUC and the host university.

In case of exchange: to cover part of  dorm and board expenses at the host university
