AUC Institute for Islamic Studies offers a four-week program taught by world-class faculty in the heart of Cairo, one of the most vibrant cities of the Muslim World. The program includes four content courses taught by renowned faculty in the field, Arabic language instruction, special lectures and cultural visits. 

Open to graduate and advanced undergraduate students from all backgrounds and research interests related to the academic study of Islam, regardless of religious affiliation. Class size ranges from 20 to 25 participants, held in AUC Tahrir Square, Cairo, Egypt.

The program will not be held liable for any information collected or circulated by any other entity. 
If the minimum of enrollment is not reached to offer the programs, full tuition refunds will be processed through bank transfers.

Upon acceptance, a copy of the passport will need to be provided.

The General Islamic Studies Program consists of four courses covering key areas in Islamic Studies: Qur'an and Tafsir, Hadith, Islamic Law, and Sufism. For more information about the program, click here.

The Islamic Law Program
Designed specifically for students interested in Islamic Law, this program brings together a group of specialists in different areas of the law to explore new ways of thinking about Islamic Law. Some important themes of the program include: bridging the divide between theory and practice, the question of modernity, and the role of Islamic Law in today's world. Each content area is covered for one week, with content presented every morning for three hours. Arabic lessons take place in the afternoon, with primary source texts and content-relevant readings, as appropriate to level.

Meet The Instructors

Tuition and fees are $2,500 (exclusive of airfare and visa). This includes 150 hours of instruction, in addition to accommodation, food, local transportation, lectures and cultural visits.

Accommodation is in Cleopatra Hotel, Tahrir Square.

Applicants requiring waiving for accommodation fees can email summer.auc@aucegypt.edu to receive a $500 discount on fees.
