About UCCD
The American University in Cairo (AUC) is proud to be the implementing partner of the USAID-funded University Centers for Career Development (UCCD) project. As part of the University’s role to advocate youth empowerment, share expertise and strengthen relations within Egyptian universities and the private sector; AUC has been implementing the UCCD project since 2017 in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The project aims to improve the employability of public university graduates and enhance the integration of job market requirements in career services and higher education.
The American University in Cairo (AUC) offers its expertise and technical support to Egyptian public universities to ensure the establish 30 self-sustained University Centers for Career Development (UCCD) at 22 public universities throughout Egypt from Alexandria to Aswan. UCCD aim to improve job prospects of students and alumni through providing career advising services, employability skills training, English language courses and specialized technical training. UCCD works on establishing strong linkage with the private sector to ensure first-hand access to labor market needs and build networking channels with employers.
As of June 2022, 18 operational UCCDs in 11 Egyptian public universities have been established as sustainable and integral parts of their respective universities. UCCD staff are exposed to a rigorous capacity-building program that includes career facilitation, employability skills train-of-trainers, labor market mapping and analysis as well as disability and equality train-of-facilitators.

Establish 30 self-sustaining career centers at 23 public universities throughout Egypt to cover Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Al-Sharkia, Al-Gharbeya, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Suez, Port Said, Assiut, Aswan, Beni Suef, Minia, Sohag, Luxor, Fayoum, and North Sinai.
