Supervisor, Library Night Services, LLT Main Library (50031511 )

Reports to:  Associate Director, Administrative Operations

Purpose:  The job holder provides students, faculty, and staff user services during the night and extended hours. Ensures safe and secure spaces for users, staff and library collections. Under the general direction of the associate director, administrative operations, the job holder will oversee the library building services and facilities during night shifts to ensure the proper functioning of all library facilities, and services, safety and security. 

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Works independently at the service desk, assisting students, faculty, and staff and performing a full range of library services

  • Provides basic interpretation of policies and procedures including access and space usage; explains and answers questions that may arise

  • Prepares statistical reports of a number of users in the learning commons during night shifts

  • Provides immediate, on-the-spot trouble-shooting for any problem confronted by users

  • Acts as the primary night shift contact for all University safety and security staff, and facilities and services staff within the Library and refers complex issues to associate director, administrative operations

  • Coordinates with the following departments the services they provide in the library

For Security and Safety:

  • Refers violation cases to be handled by security staff. He is also responsible for reporting security-related issues to the senior security officer available in the building. Monitors security personnel placement which directly reflects on library building administration security measures

  • Acts as the building warden in case of evacuation during the night shift

For Facilities and Services:

  • Monitors the proper functioning of the library facilities and requests any needed maintenance

  • Coordinates with maintenance department issues and problems that may arise

  • Develops and implements the schedule for the company’s housekeeping services for the library building public areas. Handles staff, faculty, and students complaints and submits written reports to associate director, administrative operations.

  • Works other shifts if needed

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

Minimum education requirementBachelor degree

Experience:  Minimum of three to five years of experience, preferably with some supervisory experience.

Skills:

  • Good written and oral skills in English and Arabic.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Computer skills: Knowledge of Word, Excel as well as experience in Internet searching.

  • Basic knowledge of general hardware and operating systems.

  • Ability to acquire new computer skills when required.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and within time constraints.

  • Self-motivation and strong dedication to providing quality customer service
