Senior Officer, Total Rewards, Office of Human Resources (50032420)

Reports to: Senior Director, Total Rewards

Purpose: The job holder is responsible for implementing compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. He/she will ensure cost-effectiveness to various compensation and benefits resources are allocated to support the most critical business initiatives.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Assists in implementing the designed total rewards methodology, strategy, policies and procedures according to general market trends and university strategic goals and objectives
  • Implements new and/or existing rewards programs in accordance with the University’s budget and policies
  • Administers the implementation compensation programs including salary structure, job grading, market analysis and support benefits plans and programs and develops different scenarios for the annual University budget
  • Conducts regular compensation benchmarking reports, market surveys on latest practices and trends and come out with recommendations to ensure the alignment of compensation programs with the university strategic direction and ensure University’s competitiveness in the marketplace
  • Assists with departmental reorganizations; conducts job assessment for new positions and reclassification requests by analyzing position questionnaires and assessing job descriptions
  • Collaborate with other HR functions on total rewards strategy (e.g. promotions/transfers, job offers, salary adjustments) and policy and guideline interpretation to ensure coordination and proactive consideration on issues related to overall compensation, benefits strategy and recognition
  • Build good relationships with outsourced providers, consultants and other vendors to ensure high levels of service, conflict resolution and cost-effective pricing of the programs
  • Conduct job evaluation committee meetings and grade jobs in order to determine pay level and salaries
  • Ensure equitable and competitive pay practices
  • Generate and develop reports, to summarize job analysis, evaluation and compensation analysis information
  • Implementing different rewards programs; launch and coordinate logistics of reward programs special events
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors for auditing requirements
  • Support the implementation of different benefits plans program and ensure alignment with policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement(s):  

  • University degree in a relevant field
  • Professional qualification in Human Resources

Experience:

  • A minimum of ten years of experience in human resources practices and application with a minimum of three years of particular emphasis on compensation and benefits
  • HAY job evaluation certificate is preferred

Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and theories of classification, compensation management and salary structure
  • Solid knowledge of current market practices and trends in employee pay and executive compensation and benefits programs
  • Ability to analyze business needs and design plan to support them
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, diverse environment and respect the perspective and opinions of others
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work through processes, identify and implement process improvements and resolve complex matters
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with an ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining close attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to maintain security and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HRIS systems, including advanced level in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
