Accountant, Programs and Partnerships Department (Grant Position)

Reports to: English Access Microscholarship Program XI grant Principal Investigator, Programs and Partnerships Department

Purpose: The holder of this position will provide financial support for the English Access Microscholarship Program XI grant.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Perform grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, periodic invoicing, financial reporting, reconciliations, re-budgeting and grant closeout functions required by AUC grants and other administration units/offices
  • Ensure compliance of grants with donor rules/regulations
  • Verify that there are sufficient budget funds to cover payment of expenditures
  • Prepare the payment request for all the program transactions
  • Keep control of the actual expenses and compare them in detail to the budget
  • Prepare cash advances and follow up on their settlements
  • Handle all the program activities financially with the program manager and PI (Principle Investigator)
  • Keep control of deadlines for financial reports and the grant monetary activities
  • Review carefully the grant award summary and the grant terminology that include all the details of the amounts will be spent and relevant budget item lines
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports to donors as required
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports on grants for internal management purposes
  • Review invoices and provide account codes, when appropriate, for proper project accounting
  • Automate and streamline processes to enhance the accuracy of data while minimizing manual efforts
  • Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement:  Bachelor degree in accounting

Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience in accounting.  Previous grant accounting experience is required

Skills:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Expertly use of the SAP accounting system
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles in practice
