Researcher II (Entrepreneurship), Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research (Grant Position)

Reports to: RISE Assistant Director, Community Engagement

Purpose: The job holder will be working in the Environmental Transformative Industries (Value Chain) component of the project of the Food for the Future, this involves and requires experience in entrepreneurship and SMEs. This will also involve the education sessions and conducting training sessions. The job holder carries out research and community development tasks as part of the Institute’s Research Unit including applied research trials, as well as social and technical research on sustainable resource management in Egypt. The holder of this position might lead a research team on a small research or development project. The job may entail travel to off-campus research locations for several days, most of the times not in Cairo.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Assisting in the design of research projects
  • Conducting research projects, applying research methodologies that include surveys and interviews, community assessments, focus groups, agricultural trials, and technical assessments
  • Analyzing research data and producing research reports and publications
  • Conducting field work research stations and project locations (this might require field trips of several days to remote locations)
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of sustainable resource management solutions for communities
  • Supervising students and interns as part of RISE’s Living Learning Laboratory, Work Study and Internship Programs
  • Representing RISE at workshops and conferences and presenting research results
  • Involvement as a teacher or a trainer in educational programs


Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field


  • Five years of experience preferably in research and project implementation
  • Experience with implementing similar projects is a plus


  • Fluent English and Arabic skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good analytical and writing skills in English (Arabic is a plus)
  • Interest in sustainable resource management and community development
  • Interest in learning and applying different research methodologies
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in remote locations and to connect with local communities
  • Working experience with Windows Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
