Business Process Improvement Officer, Office of Strategy Management and Institutional Effectiveness (8000100)

Reports to: Chief Strategy and IEO
Purpose: Responsible for governance, coordination and alignment of business process improvement across campus with key stakeholders. The job holder will be responsible for setting standards, coordinating project prioritization, preparing education tools, ownership, communications and 'buffering' to upper management. The job holder will have the big picture as well as the detailed view, with an understanding of the relationship between areas. The job holder will also document, analyze and improve key processes and policies across the university in order to increase impact and efficiency of AUC’s operations which is a prerequisite for institutional effectiveness, strategic planning and automation.

Principal Accountabilities: 

  • Set standards and governs business process improvement efforts on campus with key stakeholders and across areas, this includes: project prioritization, prepare education tools, ownership and communications to upper management
  • Responsible for setting governance and standards for business processes at AUC and associated teams in different areas, including setting the methodology used, tools and techniques, prioritization methods, training and capacity building of BP practices
  • Coordinate with various areas and functions to ensure that the governance standards are maintained
  • Design and manage a processes volt that will host all institutional processes 
  • Understand processes of the university and how they directly impact the University operations
  • Capture, document and communicate the current state of processes and their useful and harmful attributes
  • Analyze processes to identify gaps, eliminate redundancies and realize opportunities for improvement and streamlining 
  • Examine holistically to understand the impact of changing them on people, strategy, existing software applications and general university operations
  • Design and document new processes with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Manage university policies volt in coordination with all stakeholders to ensure the existence of an effective process and proper governance
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating the AUC policy approval, publication and communication process

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement:  

  • Bachelor's degree of administration, business, economics, or related field
  • Graduate degree or PMP certificate is preferred
  • Master degree is an asset

Experience:  

  • A minimum of 12 years of previous experience including five years experience in business process improvement and/or consulting with a minimum of five years progressive managerial experience

Skills:

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong transformation skills: high communication, organizational change management and project management skills
  • Strong BP operational and technical skills: business process discovery, business process modeling, analysis and design, business process governance and process policy management, process performance management, constructing a BPM methodology toolbox, BPM technology product knowledge, agile application development, BP optimization and simulation and even user experience design
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
