Scholarships
AUC offers scholarships based on merit and need. Generally, scholarships are reserved for students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or artistic talent. The types of scholarships are:
Academic Achievement Scholarship
Awarded to the top 25 percent of new Egyptian and non-Egyptian students for a one-year period. Selection is based upon secondary school academic performance or equivalent exams. For returning students, selection is based on their academic records.
Innovation, Cultural and Leadership Scholarship
The Innovation, Cultural and Leadership Scholarship is awarded each year to a limited number of new students who participated in cultural activities organized by local official government bodies and achieved a high level of distinction.
Cultural Merit Scholarship
Students who represent the university in cultural activities organized by the Office of Student Development may be granted a cash award.
Egyptian Public Schools Scholarships
Twenty annual full-tuition scholarships are awarded to Egyptian students who graduated from public schools. These students must have an outstanding secondary school academic record and must demonstrate financial need for the scholarship. Selected students must meet admission requirements.
Empower Scholarship
The AUC-funded Empower Scholarship offers five full and/or partial annual scholarships to thanawiya amma graduates from five governorates in Upper Egypt: Assiut, Beni Suef, Menya, Sohag and Fayoum.
Honor Scholarship
Honor scholarships are granted to students who achieved excellent secondary academic records.
Leadership for Education and Development Program
The Leadership for Education and Development Program (LEAD) offers full tuition scholarships to 58 students annually -- one male and one female -- from each of Egypt's governorates. LEAD is a joint program of the US Agency for International Development, the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation and The American University in Cairo.
Middle East Partnership Initiative - Tomorrow's Leaders
The Tomorrow's Leaders Scholarship was initiated and co-funded by the US State Department's Middle East Partnership Initiative. The program provides opportunities to deserving students, who excel academically and display the potential to become future leaders in the region.
Named Scholarship
Named scholarships are awards funded by individual donors or corporations. Selection is based on donor criteria.
Sports Achievement Scholarship
The Sports Achievement Scholarship is awarded to a limited number of students who participate in sports which are listed in the Egyptian Championship tournament with a high level of distinction in their final secondary school year.
Sports Merit Scholarship
Students not awarded the sports achievement scholarship at admission, but who represented AUC in the annual National Universities Sports Championship and achieved high ranks, may be granted a cash award.
