Institutional Financial Aid

The American University in Cairo has developed a well established program of financial aid to assist students in their quest for a college education. This program ensures that no student should be deprived from attending AUC because of financial strains.

Institutional Financial Aid Awards

The institutional financial aid program grants awards to both local and international undergraduate and graduate students. Financial aid grants will be determined according to student or family financial need, as appropriate, within university budget limitations. Financial need is defined as the difference between the costs of attending the American University in Cairo and the amount a student or family can contribute towards these costs.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible to apply for the Institutional Financial Aid program, certain requirements must be met:

  • Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment.
  • Be degree-seeking.
  • Demonstrate financial need through submitting financial aid application.

UNDERGRADUATE INSTITUTIONAL FINANCIAL AID AWARDS:

Undergraduates receive grants in the form of fixed amount. This amount will most likely remain constant throughout the course of study at AUC as long as the student is eligible for financial aid unless otherwise notified.

Maintainability

To remain eligible for the financial aid award, undergraduate students must meet the following academic criteria:

  1. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above.
  2. Maintain a full-time status (12 credit hours per semester or above); unless you’re a graduating senior and that’s your last semester, then the financial aid award will be calculated in proportion with the number of your registered credits.

Renewal

  • Undergraduates who were granted financial aid do not have to renew their financial aid applications as long as they meet the above mentioned conditions.
  • Undergraduates who received temporary aid and wish to reapply need to submit a new application.
  • Undergraduates who failed to meet the above mentioned conditions and lost their award must submit a financial aid regaining form.

Reviewing Awards

Students who received financial aid award and encountered changes in their financial situation and wish to review their award amount will need to pick up a petition form from the office of student services and submit it with supporting documents proving their change in their financial situation before the deadline.

Summer and Winter Financial Aid

No financial aid award is available for the summer and winter sessions.

GRADUATE INSTITUTIONAL FINANCIAL AID AWARDS:

The graduate institutional financial aid award is granted in the form of percentage. This percentage will most likely remain constant throughout the course of study at AUC as long as the student remains eligible for financial aid unless otherwise notified.

Maintainability

To remain eligible for the financial aid award, graduate students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above.

Renewing Awards

Graduates must renew their award every semester they are attending before the respective deadline. They have to notify the office of student financial affairs by sending an email to gradfinaid@aucegypt.edu with their ID numbers and names expressing their wish to renew their financial aid award for the coming semester.

Reviewing Awards

Students who received financial aid award and encountered changes in their financial situation and wish to review their award amount will need to pick up a petition form from the office of student services and submit it with supporting documents proving their change in their financial situation before the deadline.

Summer and Winter Institutional Financial Aid
