AUC Welcomes New International Students

Academic Advising for Incoming Study Abroad (ISAB) and Non-Degree Students
Congratulations on being accepted into AUC's Study Abroad Program. This page provides information on the advising and registration process required for the courses you plan to take at AUC.

The Director of International Academic Advising in the International Programs Office (IPO) provides guidance for these students, who seek to enrich their university education through study abroad.

General Academic Advising and Registration Information
  • AUC operates on a semester system: Fall and Spring, with a three-week Winter term (three-credit hours) and a three or six week Summer term (three or six credit hours).

  • Students choose courses from General Undergraduate Listings. You can check the offerings for that semester in AUC’s schedule of classes

  • Most ISABs are juniors or seniors and should register in 300 – 400
level courses. 200 level courses are intended for freshman and rising sophomores, and thus are too elementary for ISABs (except for Arabic language courses, which have a distinct numbering system).

  • 500 level courses are graduate courses. ISABs who wish to enroll in such courses need prior permission from IPO’s international academic advisor and the professor, whom the IPO advisor will contact to seek approval.  ISABs are only allowed to take one 500 level course.

  • Incoming students are allowed to enroll in the offered undergraduate courses as long as they fulfill the prerequisites, some prerequisites can be waived by the academic advisor.
