  School of Sciences and Engineering

In line with the liberal arts approach to education to which the University is committed, the School of Sciences and Engineering (SSE) offers degree programs in natural sciences (biology, chemistry, and physics), mathematics, actuarial science and computer science, as well as a number of engineering programs (architectural, computer, construction, electronics, mechanical and petroleum). The school also offers graduate degrees in biotechnology, chemistry, computer science, construction engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering and physics. A distinguishing feature particular to the school is the prominence given to laboratory instruction. Practical hands-on experience complements and reinforces the lecture courses. Well-equipped with latest up-to-date equipment and efficiently managed laboratories are an important pedagogical asset in the school.

Highly qualified and dedicated faculty, supported by equally qualified and dedicated staff, form the backbone of the School of Sciences and Engineering.
Students in the School of Sciences and Engineering are educated to acquire an appreciation of their responsibilities to society, and to prepare themselves for successful careers and leadership. The school provides an environment in which students develop their critical thinking capabilities, problem solving skills, communication skills and proficiency in the tools of learning.

In the school, the computer science program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET; the construction, electronics and mechanical engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET; and the chemistry program is accredited by the Canadian Society for Chemistry.

The school has well established collaboration relations with other institutions in the region, as well as internationally.
