SCE signs an agreement of cooperation with the Egyptian E-Learning University

In an attempt to expand its educational programs in all Egypt’s Governorates, regionally and internationally, AUC’s School of Continuing Education signed an agreement of cooperation with the Egyptian E-Learning University on May 2, 2012.
Under the terms of this agreement, a blended program will be offered with 25 percent of the classes’ time devoted to face-to-face meeting in EELU facilities and the remainder on line will help to ensure the program’s success.  The initial areas of program development will be in the area of teacher training in English, math and science, followed by blended learning programs in Modern Standard Arabic and Written Translation.

The goal of both parties is to provide access to training opportunities that would not otherwise be available to students in their current location and to provide training that will allow them to enhance their current career opportunities or pursue new career and employment opportunities.

“The EELU is the first e-Learning University in Egypt. EELU is driving the Egyptian society towards a new learning culture. We believe that e-learning mobilizes the educational and cultural communities, as well as the economic, social and industrial players in Egypt in order to speed up changes in the higher-education and continuing education systems in readiness for Egypt's move to a knowledge-based society”, said Dr. Yasser El Dakroury, EELU President
This is an excellent example of how we can use technology to expand professional development and training opportunities beyond our campuses, said President Liza Anderson.

“I am very pleased that AUC is signing an Agreement of Cooperation with EELU. By working with EELU and sharing our resources, we will be able to expand our continuing education and training programs. The School of Continuing Education serves 32,000 students each year primarily in the Cairo area. Through this new partnership I would anticipate that over the next three to five years this number will increase significantly outside of Cairo. One of my goal as Provost is to expand our outreach efforts and to develop new partnership with National Universities.” commented Provost Haroun.
We are committed to the success of these programs and to making a positive contribution to continuing educational opportunities in Egypt and beyond, added SCE Dean Dr. Charles Norman
