The department of Journalism and Mass Communication, School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, The American University in Cairo, is delighted to host the AUSACE 22nd Annual Conference. The call for papers began. The conference will be held from October 21 - 26, 2017.
Journalism and Mass Communication in the Age of Instant information
This conference will explore new directions in journalism and mass communication research in digital environments. We live amid the greatest changes in the history of media, and the change is constant. Technology and its current applications are evolving at the speed of lightning transforming media, as we once knew it. Central to this transformation is how empowered audiences control many communication processes that were previously dominated by the media industry and political elites. Today, individual citizens can voice an opinion on a global platform, access content when and if they choose, and mobilize social movements without the help of media professionals. Transformational ideas that promote journalism, engage communities, advance media innovation and foster creativity are needed more than ever before as the media landscape continues to evolve bringing opportunities and challenges that touch on a variety of areas including social, political and economic realities. This international conference will bring together media scholars, journalists, media practitioners, audience researchers, advertising agencies, communication experts and related fields to discuss a wide range of thematic areas related to journalism and media including:
- The Rise of the Reader: Journalism in the Age of Social Media
- Expectations of Digital Media Audiences
- The Future of Journalism and Media Education in the Instant Information Epoch
- Photojournalism in the Age of Instagram
- Community Building in the Digital Era
- People based Advertising and Communication
The conference will accept conference papers in English, French and Arabic.
