The Eighth Annual AUC Conference For Excellence in Undergraduate Research, Entrepreneurship, and Creative Achievement

April 21-24, 2013
The Eighth Annual AUC Conference for Excellence in Undergraduate Research,
Entrepreneurship and Creative Achievement (EURECA), organized by the
Undergraduate Research Program, Office of the Dean of Undergraduate
Studies, will be held on April 21-23, 2013.
EURECA invites submissions for undergraduate student original works,
including research papers/theses, scientific innovations, art and
photography, musical compositions, film and documentaries, literary works, and
entrepreneurial works. The deadline for submissions is March 24, 2013.
Students for all disciplines are eligible.

STEAM Education in Egypt Conference

AUC is hosting
its annual research conference in collaboration with the
Center for Learning and Teaching and the School of Sciences and
Engineering titled Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and
Arts
Education (STEAM) in Egypt.
The conference will include workshops and interactive
sessions, and will serve as a venue for discussion and learning about the
practices and policies for the reform of science, technology, engineering and
mathematics education in Egypt. Speakers at the conference will include Susan
Singer, director of undergraduate education at the National Science Foundation;
William B. Bonvillian, director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Washington,
D.C. Office; Elhamy Naguib, owner and
artistic director of Graffiti Cairo; Confrad Wolfram, managing director
of Wolfram Research; and Amr Salama, University counselor and
former minister of higher education in Egypt, who is overseeing efforts
to
bring STEM-specific schools to Egypt.
Conference on the Bioarchaeology of Ancient Egypt
January 31 - February 2, 2013
This conference will provide a venue for scholars from the different
disciplines of Egyptology, archaeozoology, physical anthropology, and
archaeobotany to meet, present and discuss their research in the hopes
of future integrated collaboration.

The School of Business and School of Sciences and Engineering at The American University in Cairo (AUC) have collaborated to jointly hold the 2012 AUC Research Conference titled “Entrepreneurship and Innovation: Shaping the Future of Egypt.” The conference covers topics such as social entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship education, green innovation and sustainability, as well as the role of civil society in encouraging small businesses and community innovations.

Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility in MENA Region

The second international conference on corporate social responsibility and sustainability, “Toward a Sustainable Society in the Middle East and North Africa Region: Roadmap and Priorities,” organized by El-Khazindar Business Research and Case Center (KCC) at AUC’s School of Business, in partnership with the German University in Cairo. The conference will discuss topics such as ethical consumption and sustainable consumer society; contemporary issues in sustainable consumer society; remedies toward a sustainable society; and corporate social responsibility.
Local and international experts in sustainability, marketing, and economy, from Egypt, Turkey, U.S. and Germany, including, Ahmed Tolba, assistant professor of marketing, AUC, director of El-Khazindar Business and Case Research Center (KCC), and co-chair of the conference; Noha El-Bassiouny, lecturer of marketing, GUC, coordinator of the Business and Society Research Cluster, and co-chair of the conference.
International Law and the Periphery Conference

Organized jointly by the Law Department and Sydney Law School, the International Law and the Periphery Conference will be attended by more than 65 international and Egyptian guest speakers to participate in an interdisciplinary event that problematizes the notions of "core" and "periphery" in contemporary international affairs.
Colleagues from international law, critical geography, political science, gender studies, economics, culture studies will join forces to assess the relevance, utility and practical consequences of the center/periphery paradigm that has been for over two decades influential in the construction of "spaces" in international relations - geographical, legal, or discursive.

The Department of Chemistry at the American University in Cairo is pleased to welcome you to the First International Food Safety and Sanitation Symposium. This Symposium aims at addressing the different issues affecting food safety as well as the challenges faced by emerging countries with weekly developed food control systems.
The venue will facilitate mutual cooperation among regulatory agencies, universities and food industries in Egypt. It will also present the opportunity to explore achievable, reliable and sustainable solutions for enhancing food safety practices and regulations in emerging economies.
The two day symposium represents a platform to share knowledge and experience between national and international counterparts. This will enhance cooperation between national and international scientific and regulatory jurisdictions, which will help reduce the risks associated with food supply as well as outbreaks of foodborne illnesses, and recalls.
