"It was my first time being away from my home, and I had fears of whether I could handle this or not. But what conquered my fears was my deep desire to make this experience a life changing one and I did it! I managed to balance my time between studying and enjoying the city of Vancouver. I always tried to put myself outside of my comfort zone so I could expose myself to experiences I had never imagined before. It was a journey of exploring and digging deep into myself to get the best out of me. I consider myself to be very lucky to have been given this chance to travel, and I believe that this experience will increase my potential in the future to achieve my dreams."

"During my semester abroad, I was put into a much different environment from what I'm used to back home. The challenges I faced there and the people I met helped me become a more accepting individual. It also helped me realize my true potential and what I am capable of on my own. I was part of the Wellesley Arab Women Association (WAWA) and in this picture we were fixing the wrong perception people have of Arab culture"
Shahd Azhary - Wellesley College, MA
"This was no ordinary journey. It’s an odd juxtaposition; I am alone, out of my comfort zone, yet I’ve explored the world from a different perspective, made new friends from all around the world under a wide blue sky, learned new languages, took risks, made my own decisions and dealt with the consequences of those decisions without the distraction of our judgmental society. I studied hard, but also lived my four months of exchange to the max, and that’s when I learned the meaning of life. I learned to live everyday of my life like there is no tomorrow, and make people happy because it is good to see others smile. It felt like a dream because it was a taste of the perfect life. Traveling has the ability to make you feel more connected to other humans than you ever knew possible."

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

"The more you travel, the more you see, the more you learn and the more you grow."
Dina Albert Barsoum - Saint Andrews University, Scotland.
"With every adventure out of your comfort zone, you discover a bit of yourself and a lot of the world. It's not perfect, but it is worth seeing and understanding. This semester at Roanoke College was just amazing! I met people from all over the world and from many different cultures. But the best part is, it didn't matter how different we were, we became friends and had a wonderful time!"
Ingy Nazif, Roanoke College
