"The Shape of Light" Photography Exhibition

The Sony Gallery for Photography announces an exhibition titled "The Shape of Light," featuring 35 black and white photographs exploring light in natural settings around the world.

The softness of a misty morning on a lake in China, the luminosity of minarets at the prophet's mosque in Medinah, the sound of rippling water in Japan, the call to prayer in a small wooden mosque surrounded by trees in Pennsylvania, the words of the Koran permeating the hearts of believers in Mecca. All of this creates a translucent quality, like moonlight in a desert night, within the photographs of Reem Al Faisal.

Reem Al Faisal was born in Saudi Arabia, where she studied Arabic literature in King Abdul Aziz University and then pursued a photographic career in Paris, where she studied at the Speos School. For the past several years, she has exhibited worldwide and has been featured in several publications. Her photographs are in the collection of the Sakkakin Center in Ramallah, the National Museum of Seoul, Korea and in numerous private collections.

"For me, my photography is a way to praise God's glory in the universe," says Al Faisal.

Al Faisal's photographs will be on display at the Sony Gallery for Photography from February 25 to March 26. The opening reception will take place on Monday, February 25 at 7:00 pm at the Sony Gallery for Photography, Main Campus, and will be open daily from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
