Galal Amin to Deliver Arabic Provost's Lecture
As part of the Provost’s Lecture series, AUC economics Professor Galal Amin will deliver a lecture titled “Reflecting on the Idea of Progress” on Sunday, March 21 at 4 pm in Moataz Al Alfi Hall, AUC New Cairo. In the lecture, which will be delivered in Arabic, Amin will discuss how in spite of the many recurring criticisms of Western civilization, the idea of progress has proved to be highly resistant and continues to dominate our view of political and social change. More

AUC Stages Dead Man’s Cell Phone
 The Department of Performing and Visual Arts is staging the production of Dead Man’s Cell Phone, written by Sarah Ruhl, from March 8 to March 11 at 7 pm in The Gerhart Theater, AUC Center for the Arts. The play is a dark comedy that explores ideas of mortality, dishonesty and the role technology, such as cell phones, plays in contemporary life. More






Turkish Foreign Minister Delivers Inaugural School of Global Affairs and Public Policy Lecture
The School of Global Affairs and Public Policy recently held its inaugural public policy lecture featuring Ahmet Davutoğlu, minister of foreign affairs for the Republic of Turkey. In his address titled “Turkish Policies and Peace in the Middle East,” he focused on how Turkey has undergone a transformation in the post-Cold War era. More




Queen Rania Calls for Increased Civic Engagement
An alumna and a global advocate for community empowerment, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan spoke at AUC on Sunday about the importance of civic engagement in the Arab region and the role it can play in improving lives and ensuring progress. In her address, she called on the next generation of young Arabs who have benefited from higher education to accept their obligation to advance their societies. More
