Refunds for AUC Sports Center Locker Rentals
Students seeking refunds for their locker rental fees should collect their refund letters from the Office of Athletics. Students are encouraged to stop by before 1:30 pm to allow time for processing and to enable timely collection from the cashier, which closes at 2 pm.

Office of Training and Development Employee Reaction Form Online
The Office of Training and Development is in the process of creating a new training plan for the 2013 - 2014 academic year. With the aim of continuously improving services rendered to staff members, the training and development team is seeking feedback from staff members on their training experience during the 2012 - 2013 academic year. Feedback should include training session suggestions on how to enhance knowledge, skills and abilities. Staff members are requested to complete a training needs analysis questionnaire and send it to the Office of Training and Development, or email it to stafftrain@aucegypt.edu, by May 30, 2012.

Limited Summer 2013 Financial Aid Awards for Graduating Seniors
Students who are receiving financial aid and are expected to graduate in Summer 2013 or Fall 2013 may apply for an extension of their financial aid awards to cover the Summer 2013 semester. The deadline to submit requests is June 2. All requests must be submitted to the Student Service Center located at Dr. Hamza AlKholi Information Center. Office hours are Sundays to Thursdays, 9 am to 4 pm.

Continuing Education External Scholarship Application Form Updated
The finance and administration unit of the School of Continuing Education has updated its external and public relations scholarship form by adding a space for the student's cell phone. All future scholarship applicants should use this form.

Gerhart Center Director Participates in United Nations Council
Barbara Ibrahim, director of the John D. Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement, participated in the United Nations Economic and Social Council hosted on April 23 in New York City.

Register for Lecture by Investment Expert Gabriel Hawawini
The International Executive Education Institute is hosting a lecture titled "Measuring the Performance of Your Business: Do You Have the Right Benchmarks?" The speaker will be Gabriel Hawawini, The Henry Grunfeld Chaired Professor of Investment Banking and former dean of INSEAD (the European Institute of Business Administration). Monitoring and Evaluation Summer Course at the Social Research Center
The Social Research Center will be conducting a summer course, titled Monitoring and Evaluation, from June 9 to 27. The course is recommended for people who are interested in pursuing careers as analysts in public policy, with governmental agencies, international donors, research institutions or NGOs. It will familiarize participants with the basic principles of monitoring and evaluation and development initiatives, as well as provide practical experience in evaluation and using SPSS and Excel for data analysis. School of Business Becomes a UNICON Member
In April, the School of Business became a member of UNICON, a global consortium of business-school-based executive education organizations. With more than 100 members and 40 years of experience in serving university executive education communities, UNICON aims to engage leaders and managers in executive developmental fields by enhancing performance in public and private organizations through executive development initiatives.

Online Textbook Ordering Open Until May 30
Faculty and departments that did not place their online textbook orders in April will be able to submit orders to the AUC Bookstore again from May 19 to 30. Books ordered after this time may arrive late and cost more. To place orders, click here.

Instructions for Collection Advice Forms for AUC Cashier and CIB
AUC staff members are reminded that any collection advice forms that are issued to the AUC Cashier or to CIB must be signed by the issuer. In addition, the description column must be clearly filled out. Be sure to send the original, plus one copy, of the original collection advice form to CIB or to the AUC Cashier. If the operation requires you sending the form by email, include the text in the body of the email and not as an attachment. Registration Open for 2013 Takaful Conference
The third annual Takaful Conference on Arab Philanthropy and Civic Engagement will be held in Tunis, Tunisia from June 4 to 6. Takaful will provide a unique opportunity to engage in a multi-stakeholder debate on the important developments in civic engagement and philanthropic practices in the Arab region. The conference is an annual regional meeting of scholars, young researchers, policymakers and practitioners in the fields of philanthropy and civic engagement both from within and outside the Arab region. As the first regional conduit for such dialogue, the conference is structured to encourage interaction between scholarly analysis and the experience of practitioners, with the goal of contributing to sound policy and practice in philanthropy and civic engagement. This year’s conference will host around 100 participants from within and outside the region. In addition to practitioner panels and round tables, around 25 papers will be presented under the themes of civic engagement through a transitional lens; regulation of civil society: reflections into CSO laws; youth political engagement; the role of universities in promoting civic engagement and philanthropy; philanthropy, civic empowerment and political mobilization; awqaf and socioeconomic development; and case studies and conceptual issues. Takaful 2013 is organized by the John D. Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement at the AUC, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme's regional office. Applications Open for Master of Science in Finance
Applications to the Master of Science in finance, offered by the School of Business, will be open until June 1, 2013. Participants can study on a full-time or part-time basis and choose between corporate finance and investment tracks. Business finance graduates from AUC are encouraged to apply. New Graduate Programs in Sustainable Development
New graduate programs in sustainable development are now being offered at AUC. Students seeking degrees in sustainable development may enroll in Master of Science or diploma programs. These programs are open to students from different academic backgrounds, and will be launched in Fall 2013. The graduate diploma and Master of Science in sustainable development interdisciplinary degrees will be offered in collaboration with the four AUC schools (School of Sciences and Engineering, School of Business, School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences). Applications Open for Master of Arts in Philosophy Program
The Department of Philosophy is now accepting applications from students for its Master of Arts in philosophy program beginning in Fall 2013. The program gives students the unique opportunity to focus on both Islamic and European philosophy right at the heart of the cultural and geographical crossroads in which these different traditions meet. Graduate students will explore a broad spectrum of philosophical traditions – both Eastern and Western, Christian and Islamic. The program will prepare students for careers in which critical and analytical skills are valued, as well as provide them with the necessary foundation to pursue a doctoral degree. The psychology unit in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology and Egyptology is now accepting applications to the Master of Arts in community psychology program for the coming Fall 2013 semester.
