AUC New Cairo was built at a total cost of $400 million. While $200 million of this amount came from AUC's endowment fund and the eventual selling of a number of downtown buildings, the remaining $200 million was a result of the generosity of the university's alumni and friends. $100 million was donated by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the remaining $100 million was raised from private donors whose names will appear on the buildings, classrooms, courtyards and facilities made possible by their contributions.
