Visa Information
You must have a valid passport for 6 months beyond your arrival date. If not, then you need to file your passport application at least three months before your departure date to avoid any unforeseen delays.
Non-Egyptian students are strongly recommended to get their one month tourist visa before their arrival from the Egyptian consulate in their country. However, they may be able to obtain an entry visa upon arrival from Cairo airport for approximately $15.
After registering as a
full-time student
(with 12 credit hours or above) at AUC you begin the process of obtaining a student residence visa. The procedure starts when you complete the International Student Data Form (page 11 in the incoming study abroad application) and submit it to New York office attached with a photocopy of your passport at least three months prior to your planned arrival date to Egypt in order to begin the process.
As for part-time students, they are not entitled for a student residence visa but instead they renew their tourist visa through our Business Support Office, room 423 Main Building.
Egyptian/Dual National Males or those with an Egyptian father: are entitled to a six-month stay in Egypt as an Egyptian citizen without any military service clarifications or obligations. If you exceed the six-month stay, you have to process the military service exemption for Egyptian/dual national in person otherwise you will not be allowed to leave the country until you clarify your military service status and issue the military service exemption.
Student Visa Renewals
Student visas are issued for one semester only. You should apply for renewal of your student visa two weeks before it expires. Renewal fees for the following full year are LE48.40. Failure to renew your visa at the proper time will result in a fine of LE103.40.
