The American University in Cairo (AUC) has a long history of deep dedication to Egypt. We firmly believe that a sound education not only prepares students for professional success, but also for responsible citizenship, and we are dedicated to serving communities in Egypt and around the world through extension and outreach programs. The University is also committed to responsibly managing our operations to reflect and foster the values we teach.
We are able to fulfill our mission as a world-class liberal arts institution because of the broad-based support from our loyal AUC community. Support is given to academic programs, facilities, faculty and staff, as well as student financial aid.
Your gifts help us sustain our level of excellence, build on our strengths, seek out new opportunities, and continue to add value in our communities. Listed below are our institutional funding priorities, which will help attract students from various socioeconomic, cultural and geographic backgrounds, and will support growth and innovation in research, teaching and outreach, contributing to the overall experience at the University.
Scholarships and Fellowships
AUC offers more than 120 scholarships and fellowships that provide promising students with an unrivaled educational experience. Donors may choose to support an endowed or current scholarship or fellowship. Endowed scholarships and fellowships, which are permanent funds invested by the University and earning an annual return, are unique and enduring gifts to the University. Donors may choose to establish and name a scholarship or fellowship or may support an existing one. AUC also supports the Public School Scholarship Fund, which offers opportunities to Egyptian public school students who have succeeded academically but may not have the necessary financial resources to attend AUC.
Public School Scholarship Fund (PSSF)
Since its establishment in 1997, the Public School Scholarship Fund (PSSF) has supported more than 250 students, all of whom have demonstrated exceptional academic potential. The PSSF is partially funded through the contributions of corporations and individuals and is one of AUC’s most successful scholarship programs. Donors may support the general Public School Scholarship Fund or choose to name a current or endowed public school scholarship.
