El Marashly has 15 years of corporate banking experience in multinational banks in Egypt. Her last position was deputy corporate banking director at Barclays Bank Egypt, where she led a team of 54 employees in achieving the corporate banking targets on all fronts; income targets, utilization, control measures and acquisition of new corporate customers. She led a comprehensive restructure in corporate banking for optimum resource allocation. Her previous employers were the Egyptian American Bank and Credit Agricole Bank, in which she gained diverse experience in comprehensively analyzing corporate businesses (industry, market and financial analysis) in almost all sectors. El Marashly holds a bachelor’s degree in economics minoring in business administration, from The American University in Cairo. She obtained her masters in finance and PhD degrees from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
Her research interest is in financial stability and how to enhance the resilience of the financial system, and develop risk-return sharing financing structures deduced from the Islamic finance ideology, aiming at offering solutions to some of the current financial system anomalies.
