MAL/MUN Fellowship
The Model Arab League (MAL) and Model United Nations (MUN) Graduate Fellowships are competitive awards offered to outstanding new or continuing graduate students who wish to pursue full-time graduate study in the graduate program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUSS) or the Department of Economics and work as the graduate advisers for the Model Arab League or the Model United Nations Programs.

Eligibility

  • Full admission to a graduate program in either the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUSS) or the Department of Economics.
  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum overall GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.
  • A grade of “Very Good” in the final year from an Egyptian national university.
  • Students already enrolled in a HUSS or Economics graduate program and who have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.7 in their graduate courses.
  • Sufficient history of participation in MAL or MUN.
  • Applicants for the MAL should have proficiency in the Arabic language.

Duration

  • One year, renewable by semester on the basis of performance.
  • May be renewed for a second year with the approval of the MAL/MUN faculty adviser.

Award

Fellowship covers:

  • A tuition waiver of about LE 36,900 per year.
  • Student services and activities fee.
  • A monthly stipend of LE 780 for 10 months.
  • In support of their professional training, fellows are assigned 18 hours per week of work as graduate advisers for the MAL or MUN programs.

To Apply

  • Applications are available from the department of political science, the OGSR, or may be downloaded here.
  • Applications for the MUN fellowship must be submitted to the MAL/MUN faculty adviser by April 1 (to begin in the following fall semester).
  • Applications for the MAL fellowship must be submitted to the MAL/MUN faculty adviser by October 31 (to begin in the following spring semester).
  • Selection is made by the MAL/MUN faculty adviser.
