English Language

1. How many levels of English do you provide?
Thirteen (13) Levels of mainstream General English and six (6) Conversation Levels.

2. How many levels of TOEFL do you offer and when can I take it?
A: Three (3) levels of TOEFL are offered.  The first is TOEFL Preparation, the second is iBT TOEFL 2, and the third is iBT TOEFL 3.  After passing the TOEFL Placement test, you are placed in the appropriate level accordingly.

3. If I am in Conversation Level 1 and I want to take general English courses, what do I do?
You have to sit for the English entrance exam to be placed in the appropriate level of language proficiency.

4. Can I take a course in Conversation along with a course in General English?
Yes, you can.

5. Can I join two general English courses in the same semester?
Yes, of course, you can join an intensive course of two levels or a General English and Conversation course, but only during the 12-week terms.

6. I want to take a Conversation course in Heliopolis, is it 12 weeks there, too? 
A: The conversation courses in Heliopolis are held over a period of 12 weeks as the ones being held in our other campuses.

7. For which levels can I take a certificate?
For all Conversation courses, TOEFL courses and the following Levels; that is, 102, 202, 204, 302, 304 and 402.

8. If I join the TOEFL course, will I be able to improve my spoken English?
TOEFL preparation courses are designed to prepare you for joining universities locally and overseas, for work promotions and for doing higher studies.

9. What is the passing grade in the General English courses?
Any thing above 60% is a passing grade.

10. What is the maximum time allowed to continue English courses without having to take an entrance exam?
6 months.

11. If a company or an individual wants to have English courses taught on- or off-site, who do we contact?
The English Studies Division - Customized Program - is in charge of designing programs to fit the needs of individuals and companies, and tailors courses either on- or off- site.
