Academic Integrity
Academic Integrity
"Academic integrity is a commitment, even in the face of adversity, to five fundamental values:
honesty, trust, fairness, respect
and
responsibility
. From these values flow principles of behavior that enable academic communities to translate ideals into action." Thus begins the Code of Academic Ethics which governs behavior related to academic integrity at the American University in Cairo. The Code sets the guidelines of behavior for faculty, students and staff.
Council on Academic Integrity (CAI)
As part of the institutionalization of academic integrity awareness, the university established the
Council on Academic Integrity
whose job it is to continuously monitor and enhance this awareness among all members of the academic community. The Council on Academic Integrity (CAI) was established in September 2006. Members are appointed by, and the committee reports directly to, the Provost.
