Majors & Minors

AUC's Middle East Studies undergraduate and graduate degree programs follow an interdisciplinary method of study. Through intensive study of the region’s history, culture and society, politics and economics, as well as scrutiny of current issues, students are able to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Middle East.

Three courses of study are available:

Bachelor of Arts

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle East Studies allows students to graduate with a total of 120 credits: 54 credits in concentration courses, 24 credits of collateral requirements, and the university core curriculum.

Master of Arts

The Master of Arts degree in Middle East Studies consists of courses in Arabic language and literature, anthropology, economics, history, political science and sociology with the purpose of introducing students to a variety of methodologies for studying the Middle East.

Graduate Diploma

The Graduate Diploma in Middle East Studies is designed to fill the need for familiarity with modern Middle East culture and society, particularly for students who have not been exposed to an intensive study of the Middle East at the undergraduate level.

Graduate Fellowships and Assistantships
The university offers graduate students a wide range of fellowships and assistantships in order to help them in financing their education.
