CLT’s Support for Academic Integrity
CLT lends its support to the academic integrity initiative:
a. By administering and promoting Turnitin.com
- Turnitin.com, an anti-plagiarism system, has been adopted by AUC in the spring semester (2003) and the CLT is administering the account. It aims at establishing a centralized database for record keeping and assessment on plagiarism at AUC.
- CLT holds numerous Turnitin.com workshops for faculty who are interested in using the software. It also helps faculty who drop in at the Center for more personal attention.
- CLT will continue to offer regular Turnitin.com workshops during the first month of each semester and upon request. We will also promote its use during orientation of new faculty, and in our workshops for teaching assistants and for adjunct faculty.
b. By including academic integrity issues in all its workshop series and orientation programs
1. Orientation for teaching assistants
With the start of Fall 2003, and at the beginning of each semester, CLT will hold a one-day orientation for new (and old) Teaching Assistants from across campus. The orientation will consist of working sessions that are designed to prepare new teaching assistants for their role at AUC. Two one-hour sessions will be devoted to the issue of academic integrity at AUC.
2. CLT workshops series
Workshops for full-time faculty
CLT offers a series of teaching/learning workshops for fulltime faculty. As an integral part of this series workshops on plagiarism/cheating will be offered per semester.
Workshops for part-time faculty
CLT is organizing workshops designed specifically for part-time faculty, especially those who are new at AUC and are not familiar with AUC’s liberal arts education. As an integral part of this series two workshops on plagiarism/cheating will be offered per semester.
