    Graduate students pay according to the credit hours they are taking each semester.

  2. How can I get financial aid?
    By applying to the Office of Student Financial Affairs, Room 152 Main Campus, ext. 5146 or 5144; email: finaid@aucegypt.edu. Financial aid in the form of a partial tuition waiver is available to Egyptian graduate students.
    Eligibility: In order to be eligible for financial aid, students must complete the financial aid form and submit it along with all supporting documents to the Office of Student Financial Affairs by the deadlines indicated below. All financial aid applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
    Selection: The Financial Aid Committee will make awards for the fall and spring semesters. A student applying at the beginning of the academic year may receive financial assistance for the full academic year. A student applying in the spring semester may receive financial assistance for one semester only.

    Awards and Renewal: Financial aid grants will be determined according to student or family financial resources, as appropriate, within university budget limitations. Financial need is defined as the difference between the costs of attending and the amount a student and/or family can contribute toward those costs.
    AUC will provide continuing financial aid on application to recipients who remain eligible and continue to demonstrate financial need. The amount and kind of aid a student receives will be reviewed each year so that any changes in fees and in family resources can be taken into account. Any student's award may increase, decrease, or remain the same from year to year, depending upon university costs, the family's current financial ability and university approval. Normally, students on probation are not eligible.

    Graduate students must submit a renewal form every semester if they wish to renew their financial aid awards.
    International Students. The university offers a limited number of financial aid awards for international graduate students on the basis of a distinguished academic record and individual financial need. Selection of recipients is made by the Financial Aid Committee on the basis of the submitted financial aid application form and its supporting documents. Application forms may be obtained from the Office of Student Financial Affairs finaid@aucegypt.edu.

  3. How can I apply for a graduate assistantship? And what are the eligibility requirements?
    You need to apply at the beginning of the semester to your department of major. Assistants have to have special qualifications because they assist in teaching, class supervision, and/or research and attend the research assistants’ workshops offered by the Center for Learning and Teaching.

  4. What are the responsibilities of the graduate assistant? What kind of reimbursement does a graduate assistant receive?
    Graduate assistants provide support in teaching, class supervision, and/or research. Assistants receive monthly stipends––but not waiver of tuition and fees.

  5. Can I continue to be an assistant after I complete my graduate degree?
    Yes, the university offers a limited number of post-masters assistantships to candidates who are interested in acquiring advanced professional guidance in improving their academic experience. To be considered for the assistantship, a candidate must have an MA or MS and should be preparing for a PhD degree or receiving academic training. The post-masters assistantship is for one year, renewable once. Fellows receive a monthly stipend and assist faculty members in teaching and/or research activities.

  6. What are the available fellowships and financial aid opportunities for graduate students at AUC?
    The university offers graduate students a wide range of fellowships and assistantships in order to help them in financing their education. For more details about such awards, click here.

  7. What is the work-study program for graduate students?
    Part of the financial aid program is made available through work assignments for students on campus which assist them financially, provide them with educational experience, and help develop their skills. Details on the work study program including areas of work, compensation and applications are announced through OGSR; assignments are also made and supervision exercised by that office.
    Under the work study program, full-time graduate students are given 15 percent reduction in tuition against work of 120 hours per semester. Applications for this program should be submitted to the OGSR by September for the fall semester, January for the spring semester, and June for the summer session.
